Given the current state in the US and the global health crisis as a whole, it is important to insert best hygiene practices to keep yourself and your family healthy. To that end, it is also paramount to keep stress levels down during such a crisis. One of the best ways to relieve stress is by keeping up with your fitness regimen despite gym or fitness center access. There are a variety of ways to keep your fitness journey on track whether flying solo, with a partner, or the entire family. Here are a few in-home workouts to try with your partner or the whole family while you’re in self-quarantine mode.

Binge 10

While plenty of people have stocked up on groceries and toiletries, many will also take this opportunity to catch up on some of their favorite shows in binge fashion, so why not add a workout to further stimulate your senses! For this at-home routine, you can pick three of your favorite exercises or use the following movements after each episode of your favorite binge-worthy show. This will make sure you spend some time off the couch so that way you won’t struggle to transition back to your normal routine when you’re able to return to the gym. Be sure to complete the entire round 1X before you resume to the next episode.

  • 10 Squats
  • 10 Push-ups
  • 10 Bird-dogs

Partners in Quarantine

If you and your partner have access to in-home cardio equipment and are looking for a great cardio workout to do together, you can try a tandem workout. Partner workouts are a great way to hold each other accountable and have fun while breaking a serious sweat. To complete this routine, make sure you have ample floor space and consider using a yoga mat.

Partner A – Set whatever machine you have to a circuit that burns 5 calories

Partner B – Do burpees until your partner finishes their 5 calorie burn

Switch stations and continue until each person completes full rounds of the circuit for 20-30 minutes

Simon Says

If you have little ones then you have probably played this game many different ways before, but try playing it as a family while incorporating some exercise! Simon Says will keep your family entertained for ages and it’s a great way to spend some time bonding as a family. You can also establish rules where every ten minutes someone else gets to be “Simon” and call the shots! This will keep the kids on their toes, waiting for their chances to make everyone drop and do ten push-ups. Be sure to do enough to tucker out the kiddos while being cooped up in the house!

  • Simon says do 10 jumping jacks
  • Simon says take a break
  • Simon says do 10 mountain climbers
  • Simon says take a break
  • Simon says hold a plank for 10 seconds
  • Simon says take a break
